Work-Ordered Day & Peer Support

At Gathering Hope House, recovery is built on two core strengths: meaningful daily work and strong peer connections. Together, these form a structured environment where members can develop routines, learn new skills, and build a reliable support network.

Work-Ordered Day
The Work-Ordered Day is the heart of our Clubhouse community. Members and staff work side by side to handle the daily operations that keep Gathering Hope House running smoothly. This structured day gives members the chance to build routines, strengthen skills, and contribute to a shared purpose while preparing for employment, education, or other personal goals.

Members choose from a variety of work units and activities based on their interests and strengths, including:

  • Kitchen, Building, and Wellness – Planning menus, preparing meals, serving, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen. Keeping the building clean, safe, and organized.

  • Clerical – Answering phones, greeting visitors, data entry, and helping with scheduling. Contacting members, assisting with events, and welcoming new participants. Helping with the computer lab, printing, and technology access.

The Work-Ordered Day gives members a role in the life of the Clubhouse, builds confidence through accomplishment, and develops practical abilities that can be used in future employment, returning to education, and in daily life.

Peer Support
Alongside daily work, members participate in peer-led and facilitated groups that address practical life skills, mental and physical health, and personal development. These groups provide a safe place to share experiences, problem-solve together, and learn strategies for managing challenges. Offerings include:

  • Skill-Building Groups – Cover topics like communication, healthy relationships, life skills, and social interaction.

  • Wellness & Recovery Groups – Address mental health management, addiction recovery, stress reduction, and physical health topics.

  • Creative & Community Engagement – Provide outlets for art, music, and other activities that strengthen connection and self-expression.

Why Combining Daily Work and Peer Support Works

By combining hands-on daily work with peer support, members gain both the practical abilities and the personal resilience needed to live independently, maintain wellness, and stay connected to the community.
