Gathering Hope House, a community-focused organization in Lorain, Ohio, is seeking a responsible and dedicated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Driver for Passenger Vans. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our mission of helping the community and providing essential transportation services.

  • Safely operate passenger vans to transport community members during scheduled hours.
  • Maintain a regular schedule from 8:00 am - 10:00 am and 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm, Monday-Thursday.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of passengers during transit.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the van as needed.
  • Follow all traffic and safety regulations.

Requirements


  • Valid driver's license.
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Previous Driving Experience Preferred

Monday:
  • 8:00 am - 10:30 am: Morning transportation route
  • 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Afternoon transportation route
Tuesday:
  • 8:00 am - 10:30 am: Morning transportation route
  • 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Afternoon transportation route
Wednesday:
  • 8:00 am - 10:30 am: Morning transportation route
  • 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Afternoon transportation route
Thursday:
  • 8:00 am - 10:30 am: Morning transportation route
  • 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Afternoon transportation route
Friday:
  • Day Off


Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the vehicle, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations. Be familiar with and follow emergency procedures, including responding to medical emergencies or vehicle breakdowns.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the van, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience. Implement security measures, such as ensuring all passengers are accounted for, and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Plan and follow designated routes, considering the most efficient and timely options. Ensure punctual arrival and departure at scheduled locations, maintaining a reliable transportation service.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the van to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues, damages, or maintenance needs promptly to the appropriate personnel.
  • Monitor and manage fuel levels, ensuring the van is adequately fueled for each trip.
  • Keep the interior and exterior of the van clean and well-maintained.
  • Keep accurate records of mileage, trips, and any incidents that occur during transportation.
  • Adhere to the organization's policies and procedures related to transportation services.
