This position is part time,  is Monday thru Thursday, 3:30-8pm.

The Peer Recovery Specialist is an active member of the Recovery Services Program/Team and provides peer support services to members of Gathering Hope House. The Peer Recovery Support Specialist will function as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serve as an advocate, empowering member leadership and engagement opportunities, so members can obtain and maintain the highest level of independence and quality of life.

The Peer Recovery Specialist will assist with all aspects of the organization. The individual in this position must embrace fostering growth through group dynamics. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Peer Recovery Specialist is responsible for delivering peer support services including but not limited to providing supportive listening and validation, ensuring the health and safety of all members of the organization, facilitating peer education, support, and socialization groups, with one on one peer support as needed. Adherence to and implementation of all agency policies including the Member Policy Manual, Peer Support Code of Ethics, and all other agency guidelines and rules.

Job Duties:

  • Our Recovery Team members provide peer support and education to those who belong to Gathering Hope House.
  • Provides peer support to members, by using active listening, practical and professional communication skills, and the Peer Support Code of Ethics.
  • Facilitates peer education and support groups - provides assertive leadership, promotes an environment of comfort and safety for group members to participate in sessions
  • Supports member development by providing a range of holistic programs and services designed to encourage recovery and healthy lifestyles;
  • Prepares in advance for groups, including completing research, and materials for groups, incorporating group member feedback on selected topics of interest
  • Provides planning and implementation of recreation and leisure activities focused on encouraging a sense of community through social skills modeling;
  • Participates on assigned agency committees at Gathering Hope House through Development, Outreach, Planning and Member Leadership committees.
  • Assists with the facilitation of the planning, development, operation, marketing and review of the various services of Gathering Hope House.
